Welcome to the West Glamorgan RSPB Members Group.
Our aim of our group is to publicise the RSPB's conservation work in the West Glamorgan area. We help in this work by holding educational events, and raising funds for the Society's conservation work, and by providing a programme of activities for local members.
RSPB is a charity. (Registered Charity No. 207076)
A page of local sites is included to help visitors organise a days birdwatching.
About our Group
The local group has about 346 members from the
2350 RSPB members in West Glamorgan. If you live within easy reach
of Swansea, why not come along!
The group has very successfully opened and is running the Blackpill Wildlife Centre. The birds of Blackpill article will describe what a rich wildlife resource this is.
We hold regular field trips, many in West Glamorgan. We are lucky to have many superb sites within easy reach, and organise two to three trips a year areas such as Pembroke, the Brecon Beacons, and Mid Wales.
We hold indoor meetings at the Environment Centre in Pier Street. These meetings consist of film shows, lectures on birds and natural history, and a members evening where we show our own bird photographs, and short talks on techniques.
All RSPB members in West Glamorgan receive our newsletter, detailing events an news. Our West Glamorgan group members receieve a further newslatter, updating latest news an events.
All are welcome to our field trips and indoor meetings, members and non-members alike.
The RSPB has a junior membership comprising of about 150,000 young members across the UK. The Wildlife Explorers cater for member groups aged 8-12, 13-18, and another section for the under 8's.
We are lucky to have an RSPB reserve within West Glamorgan, at Cwm Clydach.
We raise money for conservation work recently donated £1500 to our local RSPB reserve at Cwm Clydach
